The "ILOVEYOU" virus was a computer worm that spread through email attachments in May 2000. It was designed to target computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems and was able to spread rapidly due to social engineering tactics that tricked users into opening the infected attachment. When the user opened the attachment, the virus would replicate itself and send copies to everyone in the user's email address book. The worm was able to spread quickly and caused extensive damage, infecting millions of computers and causing an estimated $10 billion in damages.
